We hope that it will serve as a means to help you become as enthusiastic about Kiwanis as we are!   Every day, Kiwanians throughout the world are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth sports programs, tutoring, building playgrounds, and raising countless dollars to donate to organizations which support the needs of children and their communities.  Kiwanis members help feed the hungry, care for the sick, shelter the homeless, and educate the disenfranchised. We are dedicated to

changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Facilitating the La Jolla Junior Olympics each May

Hosting the La Jolla Half Marathon each April

Chartered in 1925, the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla has grown to be a viable and valuable resource in the community.  Kiwanis Club of La Jolla raises over two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) a year through its fund raising events, such as the La Jolla Half Marathon.  These funds are used specifically to address the needs of children in our wider community.  And we have a great time doing it.  We have a delicious lunch together every week and we have become a tight-knit group of friends sharing diverse backgrounds and careers.  Our events make us an integral part of this beautiful city.  We organize and operate the La Jolla Half Marathon in April, facilitate the Junior Olympics for all of our elementary school children in May, serve pancakes in July, and support the Rough Water swimmers in September...  We bridge the age divide by supporting Circle K students at the University of California San Diego, Key Clubs at La Jolla High and University City High School;  The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents”.  It was coined from a Native American expression, Nunc Kee-Wanis.  We are ordinary people in La Jolla performing extraordinary work by sharing our time and talents.  In turn we develop our own leadership skills and broaden our scope of awareness.  Kiwanis meets every Friday at La Jolla Presbyterian Church, 7155 Draper Avenue in La Jolla, beginning at 12:00 noon. Guests are always welcome.  Typical Friday meetings include discussion of a variety of Kiwanis related activities and a speaker to enlighten us on a variety of topics ranging from pertinent social issues to human interest stories related to our very own community.  This website provides a great deal of information about Kiwanis.  If you are interested in joining, you are invited to visit us, anytime.
